Snow at Monte Argentario 26th February 2018

Snow at Monte Argentario 26th February 2018

The metamorphosis of the world takes place in silence. (H.Wiesner)

The snow at Monte Argentario, so rare that make us all children.

Historically we have to wait about 15 years between one snowfall and the other in our promontory, so we were a little resigned to having to wait 2030!
The last events of this type in fact, were the exceptional colds of 1996 and 2012 and I state that the flakes dropped this night, are not as intense as those.

But February is a month that always surprises us and this year the forecasts were in our favor.

The threat of “Buran”, the icy Siberian wind that has plunged over all of Europe, has made us hope and since yesterday evening, since the first flakes have appeared, we have all waited for this cold, very cold, windy, morning.

It’s true, are not tens and tens of inches of snow, we will hardly show you pictures of snow puppets or battles between children (and adults), but the flakes dropped were enough to create this show.

The snow that meets the sea.

We will not dwell on descriptions and let the images speak for themselves: Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano have woken up like this:
